Birds have been worked very hard this week and we hope they are on form for the weekends race from Salisbury, the race is 96 miles to us and the forecast is a strong west wind. This race will blow the cobwebs away and prepare them for the BICC and BBC the following week.
Birds being 21 widowhood cocks 10 widowhood hens 10 natural birds The birds are training well with very few losses,
hens did a 55 mile training toss today and came well.. not sure what time they were liberated but came at 12.43 (3) and the rest not long after.. these hens are now ready for the first race. Cocks did a 12 mile trainer this evening in to a full headwind, and came back clapping, they also did 75 minutes this morning to the flag.. Naturals did 25 miles this evening in to ta headwind and all home safe and sound, The cocks and naturals are nearly ready, 1 more trainign toss for both this week and they will be spot on, The wind is our worst for the first race, but that is racing, we hope to be near the winners but in reality we look for Birds are doing well from training and all should be ready for next weeks race, hens had a 50 mile toss this week and all are home bar 1 natural hen. The widowhood cocks are working around the loft well and training is progressing as we want.
The young birds are going out every other day and are enjoying flying around the lofts. All birds are now in the darkness loft and we are very happy with their health and behavior . ant Ttraining is going very well and the birds are coming in to top condition, the naturals have had over 10 x training spins up to 12 miles.
Widowhood hens have had 5 training spins to 12 miles and all are still here and behaving themselves. Widowhood cocks have had 2 x 5 mile spins but are on fire and are playing around on return, these need to move on now and get a little more distance. Racing starts in 8 days and we hope to have a very strong team for the off. It is looking like the wind is against us and if it is north east as predicted winning is narly impossible, but we will try our hardest. |
